In the grip of winter, please don't forget to feed the birds.
Put out scraps such as bread soaked in water, bacon rind, and hard cheese.
Fruit which has gone pappy will be enjoyed by ground feeders like Blackbirds and the Mistle Thrush.
If you purchase feeders, fill with the correct food for the right type of feeder.
Buy suet pellets seed mix for the tube feeders and only put bird nuts in the nut feeders. Fat balls are half price at the moment and you can find amazing deals on a bucket of 50 balls for about £7.
I have had hours of delight at just watching the various birds come to the feeding station. My latest buy was a clear window box which holds dried mealworms. You stick it to the outside glass and then sit very still and wait for the robins to come.
Have a lovely day.
Lella xx
